PT Bumijaya Gunajaya Agro (BGA), one of the leading palm oil producers in Indonesia, held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) themed “Collaborative Research to Accelerate Sustainable Innovation – For Today’s and Future Indonesian Palm Oil” at the Faculty of Agriculture, UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta, on Wednesday, 17 July 2025.

This activity was part of PT BGA’s program to foster synergy with the academic community in developing research and innovation in the oil palm plantation sector. The FGD was attended by lecturers from various study programs within the Faculty of Agriculture who share a concern for agricultural and sustainability issues.

Representing PT BGA, Aziz Natawijaya, Head of Corporate Development, delivered a presentation on the various challenges and opportunities currently faced by Indonesia’s palm oil industry. Key topics discussed included Oil Palm Efficiency and Productivity, Production Monitoring Systems, and Key Factors Affecting Pollinator Activity in Oil Palm Plantations.

The two-hour discussion featured active engagement, with participants contributing numerous insights and questions, particularly regarding the role of scientific research in addressing challenges within the palm oil sector. The FGD is expected to serve as a starting point for establishing a strategic partnership between PT BGA and the Faculty of Agriculture, UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta, especially in promoting applied research that can strengthen the competitiveness of Indonesia’s palm oil industry.
